Fugh Government Motors, i’ll take a new taurus sho anyday. This car wont even last. Well all now caddilacs always end up in shops. How often do you see older model caddy’s on the road that are not driven by old people………..I rest my case

the audi still has more power, and its actually got real windows, good luck trying not to hit things in the parking lot with that.

when I think of American performace I think of the Vette, Since Cadillac is GM the V series cars are nothin more than mini vettes with leather and a caddy crest on it. for everybody prasing Ford and there brand new untested so called ecoboost performance engines, to my understanding Ford still didnt engineer this technology it was borrowed from BMW but as I was saying Ford dont have a single vechicle in their line-up that can go 0-60 in 4 secs like this Caddy can so who is really at the cutting edge of performance and Technology ..hint..not ford

thats beyond what the real issue is. How can gm keep “borrowing” millions, getting themselves in debt, and screwing people over. They should have used the bailout money to produce ever great mileage cars. Dont get me wrong, their lineup is nice, and there so called mpg ratings are acceptable. But do we really need 3 models of the same cts? And do you really think its going to be a hard hitter. Now on the thing about performance, does anyone really care about going 0=60 in 4 secs? I mean come on man, be real. IM NOT DISSING GM, a lot of their cars were a part of my childhood, i just dont want to see them go away into extinction because of their useless spending on these variants, and ” high end cars” Leave that to bmw,audi, and all them.

@EMINEM: it doesnt take much effort or money to extend the roof on the CTS, plus the price premium for both the wagon and wagon-V makes it well worth it, even if they dont sell near RS6 numbers.

…and to all of you complaining about “development” costs…there are none. All the mechanicals are already available. There’s more cost involved in advertising/marketing this new V variant than there is in engineering.

It’s a CTS-V…it doesn’t matter if it has 2-doors or 4-doors…a big ass or a small ass…it has 556hp under the hood and is the sexiest American car currently on sale next to the Corvette! Of course it’s freaking awesome, and anyone who thinks otherwise should get their head checked.

GM is getting too wagon-crazy. Let’s hope they’re takers out there that will fork up $60,000 plus dollars for an American wagon!

Sales flop. I don’t care if it has a bajillion HP. Stick to regular models.

How can one site have so many freaking experts? Personally I think Cadillac is on the right path with the CTS line. The V-wagon will be a nice addition and the V-coupe is going to be simply bada$$.

Am I the only guy who has noticed that base versions of the CTS sedan look like sh*t? You know… the six cylinders ones- especially in silver… it’s kind of like looking at a squared off G6. And yet the V looks awesome… go figure. Yeah I’m getting into some slightly off kilter intangibles here but I swear to you no other car out there so clearly demonstrates that magnitude of desirability between trim levels.

That’s what scares me about this car. I love wagons… own two of them… but if I couldn’t have the V I don’t think I’d even consider anything less.

Aren’t they alittle late for this article? I already seen one on the road.

Can I retract some of my post? I shouldn’t have said that the base versions look like sh*t… that was Monday talking. They do look… well, average. As in I wouldn’t spend my after tax dollars on one just to say I had a CTS.

johnnycanuck, I think it depends on the color, for example a black base CTS with deeply tinted windows can look pretty hot. I agree the base model CTS looks only average in light colors, but I think it looks better than average in dark colors.

nothing says “ridiculous ford homer” quite like throwing the SHO into a comparison with the CTS-V…sorry, tools, but they’re not comparable…

i saw a CTS-V the other day and it sure sounded badass, but i think a wagon version is pretty dumb…that’s just my personal bias, though…if i’m comfy spending the 60k plus for a cts-v, and i need to haul stuff, i’ll use my other ride for that…but who knows, maybe i’m misjudging the 60k+ station wagon market…

can’t really comment on the CTS base…i like the look of the CTS, even though i probably wouldn’t own one myself…it’s different enough that they get credit for promoting angularity in a world of smooth-mobiles…

MHW, I think you’re right. But when you see, for example, any 3-Series, they all look quite… for lack of a better term… finished. I don’t think Cadillac is at that level yet.

I dont get the whole wagon thing… II see one and I want to gouge my eyes out. I just hope they’re able to sell enough of them to make it worth the investment. Personally I think this is a poor decision

Architect; clearly you have an extremely limited understanding of manufacturing. Even the smallest change can cost millions of dollars in engineering work and tooling changes, so something like creating a Wagon version of the CTS could cost hundreds of millions of dollars.

@ andy – NVM. I didn’t see it was CTS-V Wagon. No. It looked like it was only the wagon. No mesh grille on it. I saw it on the opposite side on the highway so it was only a glance.

How is this any more dumb than a Porsche Cayenne turbo? Or a Mercedes GL63 AMG?

No one seems to have a problem with tall, ill-handling hyper SUVs, but a wagon, which is what an SUV really is, everyone seems to hate.

I think building the CTS-V wagon is a good idea. The development costs are next to nothing on it due to the fact that they are already building the CTS wagon, and the they already have all the other components from the regular CTS V. And those complaining about wagons, don’t you know wagons are in again. Just look at BMW and Mercedes.

What a joke. Cadillac lol, the Chevrolet of automobiles. But all you GM nut heads who rave about the ctsv like its the greatest thing ever built on this planet should be thankfull to BMW and Mercedes. They are the ones who started this trend of taking upscale sedans and turning them into luxury ultra high performance machines. THats why they are still at the top of this game and always will be. This ctsv wagon looks like a joke, and I know only a very very few will buy this ugly thing. Allowing for GM to continue its trademark trend of losing money.

LLN, Audi doesn’t make a RS6 Avant for the U.S. anymore! Therefore, Cadillac will not have much competition in that segment (sub 60k performance wagon; i.e. Porsche Panorama doesn’t count).

The CTS wagon was initially developed/tooled for the European market where wagons are everywhere. The US sold ones will be just additional profit.

Sportwagon is a patented name from Alfa Romeo. Bet the lawyers will have fun, Sport Wagon vs Sportwagon…
