Lutz: ‘Some good news’

05/04/2006, 5:55 PM

In a blog posting today, General Motors Vice Chairman Bob Lutz discussed how GM’s image is improving in the media. “The message that GM has more and more great looking products is starting to get through. The message that we lead in fuel economy in many segments is starting to be understood. The message that GM always has been and continues to be a leader in the development of life-saving technologies (think OnStar), comfort and convenience (think XM), and advanced technology (E85, 2-mode hybrids, fuel cell) is gaining traction.”

The leader in life-saving technologies (more advanced infrared night vision, first with head airbags, wet brake wiping, first with cornerning brake control, etc.), comfort and convenience (like THX-certified audio and first with full iPod integration, Logic7 HK sound systems, etc.) and advanced technology (twin turbo engines that are also efficient, adaptive cruise control, first with cornering headlights, etc.). GM? Nah! I hate to be a fanboy, but it’s true. BMW.

“….. leader in the development of life-saving technologies (think OnStar)” An fixed station, closed circuit CEL PHONE. It’s nothing but a profit maker and a way to scare grandma into a contract.

More hot air from the Head Blowhard. …but for the sake of argument less say there’s something good happening; but they send out some guy who acts like the current Scty. of Defense. He’s acting like Germans used to act. Even they found out; that attitude doesn’t play well here.

And the business about the ‘media’ – what do you expect from people who are on the other end of a multi-$Mil ad budget?! Jeez’us – this ain’t the ’50’s anymore!
