Provide evidence the Edmunds TCO is grossly inaccurate (as you claim) and I’ll tell you the Cobalt is a smart purchase. The things is you cant counter the numbers no matter what you believe is true in your brand loving mind. The numbers and the facts dont lie.

Between the Cayenne or SRT8, I’d buy the SRT8. You’ll be down a bit on lux from the Cayenne, but the vehicle will last longer, benefits from economics of scale (parts are cheaper) and Chrysler is throwing rebates at vehicles. If you don’t need the prestige, the Jeep will be less of a hassle to own.

SS4LIFE did you even look at the links or read Drivens information? You call him dumb and yet his links prove his information is correct. You should stick to commenting on what you know. Used Cavaliers and Jettas.

I wasn’t listing the experience YOU had buying a 3 year old car and keeping it 5 years. As I noted, they are stats for a vehicle purchased new in 2008 using historical costs for repair, maintenance, depreciation, insurance over 5 years. Visit the Edmunds site if you still dont understand.

You can quote your friends uncles mothers sisters experiences all you want. I’ll still point you to a reputable site that has facts.

It WILL cost you approx $40k to own a 2008 Cobalt over 5 years. Look at the actual numbers and you will understand. Furthermore I compared the Cobalt to the 335 using the same TCO website and factored the percentages since they are in different classes. I did this so all numbers would be on an equal comparison level.

So all of these people saying they’d go buy a Z06 or a GTR instead for the price, take into account that a BMW is going to be much nicer and have much more amenities with similar speed, or you can throw that stuff out and get a much cheaper ride that is still incredibly fast.

You want to hear something from experience though and I’ll tell you this, my 05 SS/SC is doing just fine. I chose to lease because I like to have a new car ever 2 or 3 years so I won’t have it anywhere near 5 years, and a good friend of mine who is the second owner of an 04 VW Jetta GLI 1.8T is trading his in for the 08 SS Turbocharged because after his extended warranty expired at 50k miles, he’s spent $1200 within 6 months of it happening due to parts that have broken on him, talk about a great turnover on investment right???

As for the laughable Cobalt people: The true-cost-to-own to true-market-value of a 2008 Cobalt is 93% over 5 years. The 2008 335 (no M3 data yet) is 42% over 5 years. That $22k Cobalt will actually cost the owner $42K over 5 years to own. Cobalts have some of the highest depreciation and above average operating costs according to Edmunds. Anyone that thinks a Cobalt is a good deal because the sales price is low is an idiot. Flushing $40k down the toilet over 5 years to own that piece of crap is foolish. This is all before factoring the resale price of the vehicles which, because of depreciation, makes the Cobalt an even worse deal.

Oh yes, and if you think that the cost of those repairs isn’t built in to begin with, you are high, plus the reason BMW offers that is because of their reputation for having overpriced fussy repair histories to begin with.

Fastest thing I’ve ever driven is a blown LS1 Trans Am (built as a drag strip car) pushing over 500hp at the wheels. I only wish I could say it was mine.

Then, Cobalt SS’s over an M3? you’re retarded. I took a coupe out on the road, and it was incredible. One of the fastest and most comfortable cars i’ve ever driven, and (through work) I’ve even driven Ferrari’s, Aston Martins, and many many other sports cars.
