The 2006 Jaguar XK’s central settings/information interface is powered by Alpine’s first ever application of Macromedia Flash, a technology long used to create multimedia websites. From this single screen, audio, navigation, climate control, telephone and vehicle settings can all be adjusted. Alpine says the user interface is a “critical design component in the driving experience, now fully enhanced with screen graphics reminiscent of a quality website.” Forming an integral part of the car interior, the touch screen is located in the centre of the instrument panel to provide a convenient and simple interface of all the key features of the vehicle’s infotainment system. ā€œThis is our most advanced human machine interface to dateā€?, says Alpine’s sales and marketing director, Dave Sheen. ā€œIt opens up significant opportunities for car designers to employ a flexible, creative user interface that’s still intuitive.ā€?
