Why the hell would anyone pay 25 grand for this thing when they can get a well-equipped Toyota Tacoma for the same price? The 20-25k starting price for the two door means it isn't exactly cheap. You can get a new Ford Ranger for a lot less than that. And the bed size looks so short and narrow even for a small truck as to be almost useless as a work truck. The only thing it seems to have going for it it runs on diesel so the mileage should be pretty good. The purchase price is certainly not a selling point.

Saw the four door version parked on the continental divide (Loveland Pass, Colorado) yesterday afternoon.
Wow, it's ugly. 20 years ago when this design was at least some what contemporary, it still would've been ugly. It looked small and cramped and crappy.

I'm undecided as to whether or not I like the styling. It sort of looks like it would be laughed off the road by other pick-up trucks.

it looks really top-heavy like a strong breeze would knock it over on its side and the bed is way too small to be of any use as a 'work truck.' this is the kind of truck they made in the 1940s. who the hell would pay 20-25 grand for a World War 2 era truck?? you gotta be outta your mind. the only way this would work if it was priced at the bargain basement level like a Yugo or early Hyundai, but 20+ grand is a joke. LMAO.

I don't think people buying this truck are going to try to pull up to the club in it and try to get some strange. It's a work truck. Who cares what it looks like.

That thing is crazy ugly. I mean seriously look at that exterior, and not even talk about the interior.
I think I saw a Pig flying from my window so I'm going to say the next: NMOFG.M. is right in some things, this time.
-Holly cow a piece of sky just fell over my car...

need more oil for gm. --
are you a freaking joke? a gm manufactured truck will get 500,000 miles on it? yes, with 2 rebuilt transmissions, 1 total engine overhaul, 2 rear ends and the a/c fixed 3 times. yes, a gm truck could make it to 500,000 miles.
have you ever driven a late model trailblazer? it feels like its about to break after 6 months. the last time i rented a trailblazer it had 11,000 miles on it. the bits and pieces in the interior were falling apart, and the rear end was making a clunking sound. it was a piece of crap. yes, it was a rental. but, with only 11k on it. i have rented nissan altima's with 30k on them and they drove brand new. i have driven toyota 4runners with 130,000 miles that drove better then my friends gmc yukon with 22,000 miles.
500,000 miles is joke unless you enjoy spending about $10,000 keeping it running.

if this truck is reliable. it will sell very well. if it gets 30mpg, and many people are still upset about the bailout of the gm auto company.

i can see this car selling in the u.s. very well. but, why can't gm or ford make a smaller pick-up with a small diesel. this truck reminds me of the old isuzu diesel pups from the 80's.

NMOFGM, I forgot to add I own a Silverado and while the drivetrain has been strong, I am sick of taking it back for lousy body assembly. The tailgait has been in 5 times for not closing and locking properly-this started the second day I owned it. The passenger seat was fixed 3x for moving in it's tracks with acceleration and deceleration. The airconditioning blower constantly squeeks and drives everyone who rides in it nuts. I am American, bought American and am not impressed with buying American! About 12 days off have been messed up by taking this thing in for fixes with build problems that never should have happened and at least fixed the first trip in. The Colorado was designed by Isuzu, and GM bought Isuzu trucks and cars for years. The Chevy Aveo is a Daewoo, and the list goes on and on. The Saturn Vue had a Honda V6 for years. If your beloved GM can buy foreign products and peddle them as their own, why is it disloyal for the consumer to buy from the very companies they did. If buying a foreign product is an act of being disloyal to the U.S., G.M. has been one of the biggest offenders.

When you buy a truck to be a truck, who cares what it looks like. It is an honest truck, with a diesel engine-with Colorado's and Dakota's only getting a paultry few more miles to the gallon than their big brothers, this combination sounds great. Manhindra has started making Willys Jeeps under license decades ago and are not new to this market segment. They are one of the largest industrial machinery companies in the world, knowing how to build dependable tractors can't be all bad for a true truck manufacturer. John Deere is marketing a small tractor made in India, certainly a company that is not thought to be a low quality product. I have also read Manhindra is working on a diesel hybrid. I would be all over that one.

in all fairness, we dont know exactly how "loaded" it will be @ $20k. Of course if you have hand-crank windows, no radio, no ac, not much of anything really...except the car itself..it might be possible to get away for maybe $15-6k. Mind you a base model Ranger starts north of $17k and doesn't have a cd player (only FM/AM).

This smells like a flop!

Others have said it. It's a third world truck with what looks like third world quality and definitely a poor design, going for the same price that I could get a well equipped full sized truck or a nearly loaded mid-sized truck for. What does this have going for it? A diesel power plant and that's about IT.

If they could make it look much nicer and cleaner and start around $15k, it would sell like hotcakes.

longshot I'm glad you're having good luck with your Hyundai Sonata. My sister in law was not so fortunate with her Santa-Fe. She ended up getting rid of it with only 60,000 miles due to a engine related problem that left them stranded on 4 different occasions. It was fun however trailering her Santa-Fe to the dealership behind my 02 Chevy Duramax which I kept for 99,000 trouble-free miles which was replaced by my current 08 Duramax with 21,000 trouble free miles. Just sayin!

Wow....that Mahindra is a whole different kind of ugly that I never even knew existed. And isn't that insignia on the steering wheel the same one that Oldsmobile switched to right before they went belly up?

An American car company stealing from an Indian car company. Sad.

Oh, and peaking of Oldsmobile, my dad and his best friend from work each bought brand new Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme's in 1981. They were both "car guys" who knew how to care for a vehicle. Dad's dropped two valves at 78,000 miles. His buddy actually had the crankshaft BREAK IN HALF on his at 44,000 miles.

Meanwhile, my four year old Hyundai Sonata gets beaten to hell by my wife. It will turn 100,000 miles next month, and has needed nothing but oil changes, tires and brakes.

Just sayin..... ;)

No. I am not speaking of an imaginary car. ANY GM manufactured vehicle will easily get you 500,000 miles with just regular oil changes. And GM interiors are safe to fart in unlike this hunk of poo.

price seems a bit high, but i think it's a bold statement (lol)...there's ugly without a purpose (aztek), then there's ugly with a purpose...this tries for the latter, but i guess there are questions just how purposeful it is...at least you won't have sexy car/ugly driver syndrome with this thing...

Bring down the price? They couldn't give this ugly chunk of cow manure away for free. People would rather spend their hard earned money on something that will do everything that this crap pretends to be able to do. Something that will last 500,000 miles with 0 problems. Like a Silverado.

My first reaction is "the pre-GM (pre-2002) Daewoo". No, quite literally, especially the grill and interior reminds me of every pre-2002 Daewoo product (not just cars, also electronics) I've ever seen. And as a Daewoo owner I can tell you that interior has no chance in hell for the long haul. The exterior is ugh...different, but then again work trucks aren't supposed to be pretty.

Holy headroom! You could be 9ft tall and still not hit your head in this truck. They'll definitely need to bring down the price to move these things here in the States....

Ugly as sin, but cheap and useful. Like a utility truck should be. I think they have a winner here as long as quality turns out good.

The Mahindra better be built like a tank to ever sell. I love the rolled steel bed rails, ala 1930.

I DO NOT need style in my truck, but it looks like they went out of their way to make this thing ugly. I would take it with flat steel as body panels over this "design".

Wow that Ssangyong truck was 'different. Makes you wonder if they didn't buy the old front end stamping plates of the Aztec from GM to help make it. The rest of the truck could actually work with a little tweaking
