Making the track obsolete: BMW develops driving simulator (video)

07/14/2006, 12:25 PM

By admin

BMW has developed a driving simulator to test its cars at its development center in Munich, Germany. The system enables engineers to perform extensive performance testing on actual cars — long before bringing prototypes onto the track or road. It also allows tests to be conducted under exactly the same condition several times, eliminating major variables in the testing and design process. Video after the jump…

iDrive sucks

I wish they would build a simulator that eradicates the crappy iDrive and excessive use of marketing gadgets and turns BMWs back into the drivers’ cars they once were with outstanding ergonomics and driver focused dashboards.

Like I said in the 2-series thread, they could have motors made of gold (throw in unobtaniun suspensions) and I still wouldn’t care, the design of these vehicles has gone way downhill fast.

Hasn’t BMW been obsolete since the Caddy lineup got its boost with winners such as the CTS, STS, SRX, XLR and Escalade? No BMW will ever match the superiority of Cadillac. And some simulator isn’t going to convince me otherwise.

How about a BMW “Bankruptcy Simulator”? How about a real BMW Bankruptcy? They’ve had it coming. Cadillac has got your number

Uh, yeah, BMW, Audi and Mercedes Benz are all obsolete now when compared to GM. Also, along the same lines, the earth is flat, the sun revolves around the earth, Titanic never sank (and is in fact still in service), man never landed on the moon and GM builds the best cars in the world. Dude, we want to smoke what you’re smoking (unless it’s pole).

You fools wouldn’t know a real car if it ran your ass over. BMW, Audi, Mercedes are for poseurs. Cadillac is for real and is about to wipe the poseurs off the map. Check out the Cadillac CTS if you want proof. World class, high quality, best performance. Makes the competition look like a waste of space and money.

Y’all are going to be an embarrassment driving your poseur mobiles when the real drivers blow you into the weeds with our Caddy’s

“BMW RULES”

More like BMW Marketeering Rules.

I have some Mercedes Benz magazines from the 80’s showing Mercedes doing the same thing. THAT’S MORE THAN 20 YEARS AGO. Furthermore, the Mercedes Benz simulator had far better graphics, and could simulate rain. So keep that in perspective. BMW SHOULD HAVE been doing this long ago.

BMW’s are for losers. Mercedes Benz is for snotty rich A-holes. Audi is for fools who like to throw away their money. At least Cadillac is cool without being pretentious

Buy GM or risk embarrassment and the middle finger from us Caddy folks as we blow you into the weeds

BMW is over-hyped to cover-up their record for the most useless crap ever built by one company. GM has lost any good rep that they ever had, simply by exsisting for the last 30 or so years, having been plagued with reliablity and style problems. MB has gained a rep for being made for people with too much money but little-to-no imagination, and all VW group cars look basically the same. dont even get me started on the asians… all you people do is complain about all the new cars that come out and whore GM around.
