Maserati considers less expensive models

Italian carmaker Maserati is considering diversifying its lineup with more affordable cars, an SUV, and diesel models, according to WhatCar? magazine. CEO Karl-Heinz Kalbfell said the Kubang Concept shown in 2003 could be introduced as a production model. He also said the company aims to introduce affordable models between 50,000 and £65,000. Maserati also said today it will offer a regular automatic transmission with its Quattroporte sedan in response to complaints over its clutchless-manual gearbox. I think Maserati makes some very, very beautiful cars, but as much as I try to like the Kubang, I just don’t. Is it just me?

It makes a cool “shooting brake” as they call it in Europe, and if they make this into a sedan I would definately buy it.

Those tires look awfully wide on this sleek little car. Makes it look like it’s got swollen feet.

its beautiful and will attract the Cayenne’s market, but i can see where you thing it looks a little off, its a wierd “middle height” between a hatchback and a cross over SUV….still stunning nonetheless..

its beautiful but i’ve seen an Alfa Romeo designed by Giugiaro(I can´t remember what’s the name of it) with that front.

This thing is beautiful!! If they price around the Cayenne’s tag, Maserati will snag a huge chunk out of the premium suv market. Definitely better looking than X5, Land Rover or Cayenne.

Oh. If this is an SUV, I retract my previous statement. I thought it was a little hatchback. Okay, yeah. Its tight.
