Maserati unveils GranTurismo MC Corse Concept

09/25/2008, 11:21 AM

By Drew Johnson

In a bit of a surprise move, Maserati has unveiled a new concept, dubbed the GranTurismo MC Corse Concept. Maserati has a long history in motorsports, and the MC Corse concept is design to keep that heritage moving forward. As the names suggests, the concept is based on the GranTurismo S.

However, the base GranTurismo S has been beefed up for track duty in the GranTurismo MC Corse. Underhood the MC Corse has been given a revised intake system, which combined with the racecar’s lower-restriction exhaust system nets an output of 450 horsepower – a 20 hp bump over the GranTurismo S’ 430.

Road handling has also been improved over its road-going counterpart, with plenty of new aero bits – including a new front splitter, side skirts and rear deck spoiler. Wheels have also been upgraded to racing-spec 18×12 inchers up front and 18×13s out back, wrapped in racing-appropriate slicks.

Racing-spec brakes and a roll cage round out the MC Corse package.

Maserati has hinted that a new model will bow at the Paris Motor Show next week, but it remains unclear if the GranTurismo MC Corse Concept is the new model the Italian firm plans to show off. Maserati reportedly has two convertibles in the works, so it remains possible that the Italian automaker is keep at least one of those show stoppers in its back pocket. Whatever the case, we will be on hand next week to bring you whatever Maserati puts on its stage at the Paris show.

WOW…. Maserati is just badas, if I had the cash I will get one, maybe over a Aston, maybe, but I must say, if I see one out on the track, I’m gunning for it, I just hop that the driver is worth of the car, I killed a Porsche 911 Turbo 3 weeks ago, turns out the owner just got the car and it was his 1st time out… so that was no big thing…..

Ok i cant believe what i just read what “NismoChevyKen” said, looks like a lincoln mkz at the back…WHAT THE FARKKK DRUGS ARE YOU ON….

THis is one of the most stunning beautiful, well designed cars to come to the automotive world for a while now….

This car looks great in all colours too, well the ones they have shown anyhow, even white which on most supercars just looks wrong….but if they bring out that fluro green colour that you see on some lambo murcie’s then they really will need a bullet in the head…….
I would sell my left nut to buy one……well thats if i get the right amount of money for it to buy one that is..

hehe..

I actually think, if anything, the rear reminds me a bit of the RX8. Very sexy car, though, only complaint relates to the rear again, the distance from the door to the tail makes it look a bit like it’d do better with a second set of doors… but that’s what the Quattroporte is for, isn’t it?
