Maserati has vowed to debut at least one new model at each of the next international auto shows, with the Italian automaker making good on that promise at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. Earlier on Tuesday, Maserati took the wraps off its GranTurismo S Automatic.
As the name implies, the biggest feature of the new GranTurismo S is its automatic transmission. Although the base GranTurismo – equipped with a 4.2L V8 – has been available with an automatic gearbox since launch, the up-level S model – which ups the ante with a 440 horsepower 4.7L V8 — has been offered exclusively with an electro-actuated gearbox. However, Maserati will now offer the GranTurismo S with a ZF-sourced six-speed automatic.
To distinguish the car as a new model, the GranTurismo S Automatic will feature unique side skirts and new “Trident” design 20 inch wheels. Inside, the GT S Automatic will boast a standard Bluetooth system, with iPod integration optional.
Look for the GranTurismo S Automatic to hit Maserati dealerships in the coming months.
