who should buy this? well, answer is rather easy… anyone looking for a ultra-luxury car that does NOT look like a Tank, ie RR

i really liked RRs design earlier, but the phantoms frontend simply is too much of an emphasize of the “doric temple” theme in their grille… people want to get a car, not a pile of stones.

and raise the price to get more buyers? in this segment, this IS a workable way… people who get 300K+ cars dont care about the price being LOW, they care about showing off to their peers… and anyone who drives a 299K Car when all his friends got 300K cars is a poor bastard… (yes, id like to be a bastard that poor, too)
still, i wonder if they shouldnt have updated the car some more to make the increased price valid…

Really though, this is pretty outrageous. I love Benz but Maybach was always about as exciting as watching grass grow.

Just sell the Maybach to the Arabs, they acnt semm to get enough of it. Agreed Wickedated the maybch is like a corprate jet inside. Both the Phantom and Maybch have different interpretations of luxury and personally i’d buy a Phantom.

Having been inside a 62S and a Rolls Phantom at the Frankfurt Auto Show, I can tell you, yes, the Phantom is cooler looking outside, but the 62S puts the Phantom to shame in terms of interior ammenities. The thing is like a corporate jet. Seats fully recline, access to internet, several huge LCD displays… The Phantom is cooler but it’s meant for a different market.

they need to change the looks of the car thats what. Id prefer a rolls any day. Who here would rather have this over a Phantom?

What they are asking for that car is crazy. It just looks like a long Benz. Nothing worthy of the price of a nice house (in Texas). I would opt for the Rolls any day… sheesh.

I think if you were going to buy a Maybach for $338,250 an increase to $341,750 probably wouldn’t stop you.

Furthermore, I don’t really think the increase puts the 57 squarely against the Rolls-Royce, because again, I doubt that $3,750 difference, now reduced to $250, really prevented a lot of people from cross-shopping the two cars.
