Mazda has unveiled a program that allows web users to visit the manufacturer’s website and chat real-time in order to negotiate an actual price quote on a vehicle from a local dealership. Since few cars are sold at MSRP, Mazda is allowing buyers to negotiate a price for a new car online.
The service is said to allow buyers to quickly negotiate a price and set up a time to sign the necessary paperwork and take delivery of a Mazda. How aggressive the deals will be is unknown, but the service does reduce the need to visit a dealership. Mazda is the first manufacturer to allow buyers to actually negotiate a price with a customer service agent acting on behalf of a dealership. Previous efforts by other manufacturers simply had buyers sending a form email to a dealership and occasionally getting a response along the lines of “come in and we will give you the best price around.”
