2010 Mazda CX-9 introduced [Live Image Update]

04/08/2009, 8:02 PM

By Nick Aziz

Mazda has unveiled its 2010 CX-9 crossover, which is on display this week at the New York International Auto Show. The CX-9 receives a mid-cycle update inside and out, though it will be mechanically identical to the outgoing model aside from some minor suspension revisions.

The three-row SUV, based on the Mazda6 sedan’s platform and related to the Ford Edge, will continue to use its 3.7-liter V6, offering 273 horsepower at 6,250 rpm and 250 pound-feet of torque between 3,000 and 6,000 rpm. Torque peaks at 270 lb-ft. at 4,250 rpm.

The crossover has a revised front fascia that brings the CX-9 more in line with its relatives, new wheels, and revised tail lamps.

New “family face” features include: a bolder five-point grille, a restyled radiator grille, improved front combination lamps and fog lamps, new 20- and 18-inch wheel designs, and revised taillights with the same Nagare-inspired texture as front lamps. A new exterior color, Dolphin Gray, is now available.

For 2010, new interior appointments include chrome accents throughout the cabin, piano-black insets on steering wheel and around audio display, better fabric seating surfaces on models equipped with cloth upholstery, detailed stitching on vehicles with leather surfaces, and a new double-lid center console with storage for up to four DVDs and nine CDs.

For the money and the class, nothing beats it. I do wish they would bring over the JDM MPV though. Sexy and there’s a Mazdaspeed version.

That lower grill looks like a smile, but with a 5 o’clock shadow around it now. I prefer the CX-7 face.

The 2009’s version is better from the front but i guess the 2010’s version is way better in the back and all additional options… The addition of chrome in the front made it cheaper …. Although it looks like it is smiling it is REALLY AND EXCELLENT SUV (NOT A CAR!!!!) …
