I think that the car looks great in person, but this, like all mid size cars offered these days gets to be around 30 grand with only a few option boxes checked….too much money if you ask me

jackjimturkey: The model is indeed called Mazda Mazda6, just like the smaller sedan is the Mazda Mazda3 and the mini-mpv is the Mazda Mazda5. The Charger is a significantly larger and more expensive vehicle than the ’6.

“Replacing the dull Mazda 626 …?” What other 626 would it replace?

What’s it up against?
For me, it’s up against the dodge Charger and the Accord “TL-SHAWD”
Not a true commuter coffin.

Part of my problem with the car’s name is that it suggests that it has a V6. A 4-cylinder 6? No.

Why you would buy it: You need a midsize sedan, and you’re still alive.

Stix: “Am I the only one who thinks it’s just stupid to simply offer a V6 engine in just automatic only?” Possibly. I wish there were more stickshifts, but most people driving in this segment ….

Not a bad looking car in a lame segment. At least they tried to make it sporty, however I would also say I would take the Legacy over this car if I had to choose. The Accord is a fine appliance and the Camry I would not even bother.

The car looks really good coming down the highway compared to all the Camry’s, Accords etc. But when looking for a midsized 4-door, who ever even remembers that Mazda even offers one?

leftwing – you mean the current legacy or 2010 one? The current legacy is the closest thing to great design as far as sedan styling goes, so I will disagree with you on that, I’m thinking of going out and buying my second Legacy just because I miss my 2006… If not that, then I’ll probably end up with a Mazda6 V-6.

i like the design, i think they’re pretty slick looking in person…not my fav segment, though…they’re all bland-mobiles in that range…the accord, altima, camry and legacy are weak designs visually, imo…

Um, this sentence clearly says the V6 is still an option and not removed from the lineup……

“…..the optional 3.7-liter V6 now pumps out figures almost identical to the defunct Mazdaspeed6, and even the enlarged 2.5-liter four-cylinder in our test model has a 10 pony advantage over the outgoing model.”
