2008 Mazda Tribute HEV

01/07/2007, 10:33 PM

By admin

As previously promised, Mazda has announced the 2008 Mazda Tribute Hybrid at the Detroit Auto Show. The all-new Tribute Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) features the ability to run completely on electric power at speeds up to 25 mph.

The Tribute HEV is powered by a 2.3-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine using Atkinson-cycle combustion for improved efficiency, which produces 133 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 124 lb.-ft of torque at 4,250 rpm. To improve acceleration, the 2008 Tribute HEV also includes a A 70-kWatt (equivalent to 94 horsepower) electric traction motor.

The new HEV meets California’s Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle requirements by achieving Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle II and zero evaporative emissions standards. Gallery after the jump…

Maybe Ford killed off the Escape and figured it would sell better as a Mazda??

Mazda obviously spent minimal time differentiating the Tribute from the Escape. A serious remodel is needed; the truck looks dated and dull.

this is a totally AWFUL new design for FoMoCo’s new small SUV, absolutely TERRIBLE, i feel the same way about the Escape, though I think the Mazda has more going for it visually from the rear, but overall it’s heading in a backwards direction design wise.

This sure as hell doesn’t fit in Mazda’s lineup.

Get rid of this box on wheels ASAP.

Its still better than the one they got now. The rear on the current one is really bad.

The current one has rollover problems, as does the current Escape, hopefully those aren’t a problem on these…stupid ass Ford can’t even make safe cars in the 21st century, truly, and utterly, pathetic.
