Affordable and fast twin turbo do not an RX-7 make.

Let them follow Nissan and build a successor to the FD3S. Chief complaint of the RX-8 is that it isn't that fast. I'd blame this largely to the lack of turbochargers.

How about a rear-drive RX-3 as an entry level rotary sports vehicle? Then position the twin turbocharged RX-7 in the $60,000-$70,000 range with the same 2600-2800lb weight. Mazda did skimp on a lot of quality parts with the last car-- no wonder it only listed for $35,000 new at the time. It should have cost $45,000-$50,000.

Why is it that every concept car these days has to share it's rolling stock with a Caterpillar 797B dump truck? By the time the car ends up in production and the wheels and tires shrink to a normal size the car looks very underwhelming. Why not start out with realisticly sized stuff and design a car that looks great around that?

The headlights look cool, but what kind of pattern could those things throw?

I'd love to see a new RX-7 too, but they have to make a business case for it. IMHO they need to move the car back to it's roots and make it affordable again. The Kabura is the one I'd most like to see make it into the showroom.

Pop up headlights? ugh
I agree that the true RX-7 needs to comeback.
A fire-breathing twin turbo big rotary RX-7 Extreme to go up against the next GT-R is not a bad idea either. Then they could repurpose the big rotary for use in their C-UV's and sedans while leaving the small rotary to the RX-8 and Miata . Long live the rotary!

I absolutely love the new mazda concepts, especially the Kabura, but hey mazda, build one of em already. Please either use a 2.3 DISI turbo, or a Cosworth prepped MZR with 260 NA bhp... then i'll be really happy :)

I'm sorry guys but those headlights look like some gay shit out of Martha Stewart Living. I want my cars eyes to have a mean look, not some "dainty shit meets Gobot" look.

Another Mazda sporty car concept just a month after the Nagare? While I'm all for thinking ahead, wouldn't Mazda's time be better spent developing an actual RX-7 replacement?

I am really liking the new design direction Mazda is taking. The concept cars Mazda has put forward in recent times have been of a really high standard, and this seems like it will continue the trend. Although this is only a teaser sketch, I am already loving the headlights as well as the other design elements like the wheel arches and the hood/bonnet crease. The addition of gullwing doors should make the Ryuga an even more interesting concept. Can't wait to see the real thing.

Mazda has done a great job so far creating production vehicles that retain design cues from their concepts.

Mazda seems to have some interesting "far-out" concepts.

We'll have to see how this translates to real production. Looks to me like they are predicting design for 2020, not the near future. Or maybe it's just hype to compensate for the dull (but competent) line of vehicles they sell now...
