Mazda ’s French operations will take to the stage at Paris’ annual Salon du Cabriolet, Coupe & SUV next month with a special edition MX-5, also known as the Miata in North America. Swathed in a menacing matte black finish, this special edition helps Mazda celebrate the car’s 20th anniversary in the French market.
Based on the standard MX-5 2.0, the Black & Matte – or Black&Mat as it is officially known – was created by designers LK Paris as a “transformation into a work of art.”
It is unclear if Mazda will actually offer a matte finish MX-5 in its French lineup, or if it will follow the lead of so many other automakers that have shown gloss-free cars but have never made them a part of their official offerings.
