McLaren Automotive – the company behind the McLaren F1, Mercedes-Benz SLR and the forthcoming MP4-12C – announced on Wednesday that it will be setting up shop in several global markets, including right here in North America.
McLaren will base its North American operations in the New York area, lead by former Porsche , Ferrari and Maserati regional head, Anthony Joseph. McLaren will also setup regional directors in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
The news confirms the upcoming McLaren MP4-12C will be sold in the United States and Canada.
Joseph will be tasked with setting up 10 McLaren retail operations in the United States and Canada. In comparison, the European market will have 15 McLaren retailers.
No word on when the North American retailers will officially be in place, but Joseph has plenty of time to complete his work. McLaren’s first new vehicle – the aforementioned MP4-12C – won’t begin production until the first half of 2011.
