Texas-based tuning firm Hennessey Performance has announced plans to create its own fire-breathing version of the already potent Mclaren MP4-12C supercar.

Called the HPE800 Twin Turbo, the car will boast over 800 horsepower thanks to upgraded turbos with new external wastegates and blow-off valves. The intercoolers, clutch, engine-management software and transmission-cooling system are also new, and the transmission is fortified to cope with the increased power.

Outside, the HPE800 gets reworked, downforce-improving fascias and rocker panels along with new wheels and Michelin Pilot Super Sport rubber, while the cabin is decked out with carbon, leather and alcantara trim.

Interestingly, Hennessey elected not to touch the car’s suspension and brakes, saying that “the factory systems will be difficult to improve upon.â€

Hennessey has not revealed when the HPE800 Twin Turbo will be revealed, nor what price it will command. Given that a stock MP4-12C starts at $230,000, Hennessey’s monster might well come close to $300,000.
