McLaren shows Speedtail's 18K gold hood badge

The company is promoting 'boundless' customizations for its next Ultimate Series model.

McLaren has continued its teaser campaign for the upcoming Speedtail, showing off a set of optional gold badges.

Featuring McLaren's 'Speedmark' logo, the badges are crafted from 18 karat white gold with uniquely patterned carbon-fiber inlays.

Each car has a set of three badges, each handcrafted by artisans at trophy specialists Vaughtons in the UK's Birmingham Jewelry Quarter. The white-gold emblems are laser etched with a McLaren hallmark showing when and where they were created.

The company notes that the more weight-conscious buyer can opt for lacquered badges that weigh almost nothing.

The optional badge set is just one example of the Speedtail's "limitless tailoring opportunities" that will presumably push the average selling price well beyond the $2.3 million USD starting point.
