Some you people need to go back to reading comp 101…

So figure about 20-22 City and 28-32 Highway.

The A8 TDI is not only a better performer but after a couple of years you can also buy 2 of them for the price of 1 Benz. There’s a reason for that, trust me…

320 hp and 538 pound-feet of peak torque is impressive no matter how you much you want to bash it. Especially when it is attached to those fuel economy numbers.

wow, the (now old) a8 V8 diesel blows this “new” s class diesel away. how anyone is impressed with this is beyond me (or has never left america).

This engine is a old design like the 2.2ltr which has been going for years. The V6 was besically a brand new design going from straight six to V6. That engine is regarded as the best 6-cylinder Diesel on the market and hopefully the next generation V8 will be based around the V6.

The V12 Diesel coming soon will be two of the V6 bolted together to form a V12 which should make it one of the best in class. Estimated 6LTR with around 470-500BHP and 800ft of torque.

GS? You mean the Camry…oh sorry “Lexus” that is made of lightweight materials? Wow 18/25 EPA estimates. Really great.

I agree however that this is not an accomplishment. How is it state of the art? It doesn’t meet the US requirements. Where’s the bluetec urea engines???

the GS430 gets 18/25. This is no accomplishment by Benz. Diesels are not the future.

My gas powered A8 gets 28mpg highway. I’m shocked this doesn’t get better mileage. Audi’s diesel A8 was featured on Top Gear to see if they could drive across the country and back (essentially… i dont really recall the route) on one tank of gas, which they did.
