AMG boss: Black Series reserved for two-door cars, 'never' SUVs

Mercedes-AMG has opened the door to additional Black Series models, but SUVs will apparently be excluded from the club.

Speaking to AutoGuide at the recent New York auto show, the executive flatly dismissed the idea of a Black Series SUV despite growing demand for high-riding models.

"No ... never," he said. "Black Series is for the racetrack."

The company is uninterested in a C63 Black Series, instead focusing on the AMG GT as its performance flagship coupe and the next likely candidate to bear the Black Series badge.

"GT S Roadster is coming to the market now, and you know, we have in the past something called Black Series, so let's wait and see," Moers added.
