the CDI is probably a good deal cheaper than the BlueTec, and since the emissions standards change a bit for SUV’s they are allowed, while they wouldnt be in the E.

Doesn’t it have to do with some agency still testing the Blutec urea?

Bring on the diesel cars for the USA for pete’s sake. Small cars, midsize cars, fullsize cars, SUVs, trucks… you name it. Mercedes has always made the best diesel cars. I’d like to see some of BMW’s diesels also.

This engine is probably the best diesel V6 engine in the world. Its so smooth and quite for a diesel that ithard to tell whether it your driving a diesel or petrol. Speedwise it is actually faster then the E280 Petrol as they both have 3Ltr engines.

I thought the bluetec was going to be available in all 50 states? If it is not available in CA, what about MA,RI,CT (i think) and the other two states that have similiarly tough regulations?

When will GM and Ford start doing this in their passenger cars and SUV’s. With Jeep pushing the envelope and importing MB Diesels for their Grand Cherokee et al, I would love to see an Expedition/Explorer in a diesel but even moreso, a Fusion TDI that drives like hell and gets 45 MPG.
I’d gladly pay the price premium for the opportunity and the performance.
As a lifelong Ford family guy, I am seriously considering the E class Bluetec if Ford doesn’t offer something… Wouldn’t the Lincoln MKS be the perfect chance to put in a Turbo Diesel and really make a bold move?
