The problem with Mercs is the bloated inefficient engines they put on their premium models. It’s as if since they’re selling pieces of art they need to justify the price tag, thus the engines. If you look at the list of the 2008 EPA’s, Mercs have the worst fuel consumptions and lowest HP ratings compared to other manufacturers. No doubt the CLS is a beauty to most people but they set the price of admission way too high.

This car makes me feel good. Since in my opinion it is uglier then Betty I feel good when I see people spend a lot of money on it. I could not afford it even if it would be good looking.

Nothing great.

The CLS is a good looking car, but when is an auto manufacturer going to depart from the “box mania” (hood, roofline, trunk) and venture into new territory? More and more I see all auto manufacturers change the design a little bit here, make it a bit softer, but they’re not truly going anywhere.
The only reason why I’m bringing up such a “different” idea with the CLS is because it’s found a niche market, that is all about exploring. And even then, it would be pretty radical, but I’ve been thinking lately that what we consider luxury right now really isn’t much more than a fancied up sedan.
