Mercedes-Benz will idle its Vance, Alabama, production facility for two days in December and two weeks in January in an effort to cut down on excess demand caused by declining new car sales across the world. The Vance plant, located near Tuscaloosa, produces the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class, M-Class and R-Class SUVs and crossovers.
Mercedes-Benz also offered some employees buyouts during October. The plant employs about 4,000 employees total.
Felyicia Jerald, a spokesperson for the Alabama plant, said that some of the automaker’s employees will continue to work during the shutdown days, though she didn’t specify how many.

the weird part is that even with the “declining car market” it takes almost half a year until the can deliver that freshly ordered ML-Class (same goes for the competitors…)
maybe the crisis aint so bad after all, and they just want to get rid of their lazy workers… cinderella style, the good ones in the pot, the bad ones in the gut…
