@ RaineMan , whatever , keep telling yourself that. I’ve seen SUVs go through normal cars like a hot knife through butter , all passengers in the cars dead or seriously wounded and the SUV passengers walked away without even a bruise.

Cayenne vs Logan , 4 dead in the Logan , the Cayenne driver completely unharmed. where i live i see something like this almost every week.

Odds are if you were in the fiesta you would have been able to either stop short or swerve out of the way. Small vehicles have manouverability on their side. Actually being in a larger vehicle when involved in a crash is worse than being in a small one… there’s a thing called momentum and the conservation of energy. A two-ton SUV travelling at 55MPH carries far more momentum than a one-ton car. Plus with the recent advances in multi-stage airbags, crumple zones, and what have you most cars are just as safe as their larger brethren. SUVs being safer than any car is just a myth.

there is no excuse for bad driving. but if a car hits me , i would rather be in a GL than a Fiesta.

Safety? Since when are SUVs safer than cars? I see SUVs involved in rollover accidents all the time… my cousin was killed when she ran her Navigator off the road and flipped it. If she had been driving a car odds are that wouldn’t have happened. My neighbor fell asleep behind the wheel of her 2007 Pathfinder, crossed the center line, and took out 3 cars in the opposing lane before she came to a stop. If she had been in a car she would have stopped after the first hit. So… tell me, how are SUVs safer?

Ok, that’s irrelevant…but the G-Wagen is cool. Go offroading all day, come back home, wash it, and you have a car you can take out for a night on the town (same applies for the Lexus LX570 and Toyo Landcruiser).

Funny… there were famalies back in the 70’s and 80’s when SUVs didn’t exist. What did they drive? Vans and wagons… the more sensible alternative to a behemoth gas guzzler with off-road capability that is never used. Wagons can haul just as much as a SUV in terms of people and their stuff… plus they get better mileage, handle better on the road, and can actually manouver in close parking lots. 90% of SUV drivers will never need the offroad capability, so why bother with it and all the associated handling penalites at all?

One thing to keep in mind, as gugy said, is that as long as there are families (I myself in a family of seven), and rich people (as idrinorbarsaku said), full size luxury SUV’s will always be strong sellers in the market, even one as bad as this one currently. By the way, I like the GL.

On the back of a flatbed or Tow truck.

The King of SUV’s is the Escalade and this POS isn;t even close to the quality and reliability of a world reknown GM product. Fail.

Well, if you have a family yes, a large SUV is a good thing.

But I am really aware of fuel consumption. I love this car, but I would only consider it as diesel engine. So it has a better mileage.
