You are correct and that is the difference btw American car co and everyone one else. Just for the record these MLs were plagued with issues including paint bubbles and electrical problems. To be fair this is when MB got in bed with Chrysler and I forgive them for it but Im not buying a 98-03 ML I like the MDX better anyway

If I was an owner of one of the older ones and my rig was working fine I’d just ignore it. Sure as hell you take it to a dealer to address this issue and then when you go to pick it up the guy across the counter says ‘by the way, we noticed this… and this… and that’. Thanks, but no thanks.

This is ridiculous, some of these cars are ten years old, surely if the part has lasted 10 years, then it has survived a normal service life. Why should MB have to replace parts that have lasted a full service life?
