LLN is saying it’s a new naming scheme, it isn’t. Prior to 1997, you had the S-Class Sedan and S-Class Coupes. In 1997, the renamed the S-Class coupes as the CL for the 1998 model year. They’re going going back to the S-Class Coupe, because of the CLK being replaced by the E-Class Coupe

Why they wanna erase the CL-class ??? and replace it wit this ? and the same story as the CLK they gonna replace it with the E-class Coupe. its just wrong and not very clever movement from Merc.

The rear end is unappealing. It makes me wonder how did Mercedes’ design change so drastically? Did they hire a new team of designers?

Oh come on! Stop saying it looks like some others because this isn’t even the first CL, S-Class C whatever… I mean, comparing to an Opel front when this front has a while in MB design? Please.

The CL is everyone’s favorite MB so don’t mess it for us!

I may be wrong, but the front headlights get a shape that even more resembles the Acura CL. Well, I guess even art has its limits… then follows overachieving.

This is good because the only thing keeping me from a Mercedes dealership was that I was too stupid to know that a CLK was positioned as a mid-range coupe and that the CL was the big coupe. Thanks Mercedes!!!
