2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK AMG 63 [Illustrated]

07/07/2008, 1:23 PM

By Drew Johnson

Although the Mercedes-Benz SLK was just updated for the 2009 model year, the German automaker is already at work developing the next-generation car, likely for the 2012 model year. The 2012 SLK range will include an AMG 63 model, which we had our artists create based on insider information.

Although the new car will still resemble what we know as the SLK, the F1-inspired nose, as seen on today’s model, will be absent on the next generation. Overall, the SLK’s look is expected to fall more in line with the rest of Mercedes-Benz’ offerings.

The AMG version of the SLK could also be one of the last Mercedes models to use the company’s 6.2L V8 as the German automaker will look to smaller, more efficient powerplants for its high-performance models.

======>>Mercedes cars are just plain beautiful. A back-of-my-mind thought: when are they gonna update or at least “refresh” the CLS?

hmmm looks exactly the same except for the nose to me…not bad, but I’d still rather have a Boxster. This coming from a former SLK32 (st gen) owner. Never got on board with the current one though. Looks like a ****roach. I do like the interior better though.

MugenSentraKen, the 2009 CLS is the “refreshed” model… denoted by a two-rib rather than four-rib front grille, silver accented bumper mesh, a sportier three-spoke steering wheel, etc. -nothing too dramatic…

On a side-note, that’s one of the best “artist renderings” I’ve seen on a speculative model redesign!

Why do they say “our artists”? Does Brenda Priddy work for LLN?
