Oh, man, I love that video. It brings tears to my eyes every time I watch it.

My neighbor just passed away a couple of months ago. His name was George W. Dunaway, and he was the 2nd Sergeant Major of the Army. Look him up if you’d like, but he was an amazing person. That video makes me think of him, and also what my dad went through in Vietnam. It really helps you appreciate the hard work and trauma that our military personnel go through.

^ @ dmanero: What are you on about? The SLR and SLC are completely different automobiles; the SLC hasn’t even been released yet, so how can there be a “far better and up to date” model in the works? Moreover, the SLR roadster has already been released, and in more than a few ways, it is very pretty. This Speedster will be incredible in the flesh, because so rarely do you see such modern open-top roadsters these days. (The only two I can draw off the top of my head are, correct me if I’m wrong, that Audi TT Clubsport and the Ferrari 550 Barchetta.) Lastly, the owner of a McLaren Mercedes SLR Speedster WILL drive it on the streets. It is a robust, flashy vehicle you can’t help but be seen in, and the SLR line is in such tatters, nobody would consider any of them a good investment. Besides, isn’t that sort of the point of this market segment, to have people preserve the car for historic purposes? I think this Speedster will follow the rich legacy of its two previous variants: people will call it silly and move on. Speedsters are all about the unadulterated driving experience, and I do not believe Mercedes is capable of delivering on that goal. I love it, personally. Ever since the SLR came out, I’ve been waiting for a stripped out, driver-focused version. Hopefully this Speedster learned its tricks from that 722 GT racing variant.

And we care, why. No only is the SLR(SLC) soon to be replaced with a far better and up todate looking model, but there is also no words to describe how ugly this roadster will be. On top of that why buy or build a car that will never to the light of day on the streets

I bet this is gonna look more original than the SLC. Like i said: SL + V12 + body kit = SLC

I think the rendering looks great, but i can hardly call it an SLR. Instead, i’m tempted to call it F400.
