Mercedes-Benz recalled the most cars in its homeland of Germany this year as it stepped up a campaign to address nagging quality issues. A list compiled by a German magazine showed Mercedes called back around 350,000 cars for repairs on items including brakes, electrical components and windshield wipers. French brand Peugeot came next with 65,000 cars recalled. The Leftlane perspective: It’s unfortunate Mercedes is faced with this sort of news amid efforts to improve quality, but we wouldn’t expect to see any improvements just yet. We’ll hold our judgement until recall numbers from 2006 are published next year.
