What test are you talking about? Which ZO6 also? C5, C6? In real life and depending on the kind of driving you are doing it probably could average to “15.2mpg”. If you have a link or can tell me where I’d like to see it.

JJT: While that’s true, wasn’t there a link on here awhile ago saying it takes like 5 years for the cost benefit of having a diesel to be beneficial? I can see owning like a VW Golf TDI that yeah you have to pay $4.30 a gallon for gasoline for but getting like almost 50mpg’s working out, but in a SUV, or pick up? My buddy isn’t happy that disel costs this much to fill up his 2500 Ram with the Cummins Diesel.

moto-racer13, all internal combustion engines in use are patented by Germans. I am not sure that best diesels today are germans:Honda diesel took honors in Europe couple years ago and the smaller diesels(1.3L) are sourced from FIAT by everybody.
Marine diesel engines are mostly US and Japanese for smaller craft.

Well you obviously did’nt see the test of the Z06 did ta Need for Speed cause all it got was 15.2 MPG

FordTaurusForever, please remind me which cars are subject to the gas guzzler tax? is it the Ford Mustang GT500? yes, Was it the Ford GT? yes Is it the Corvette? No Corvette ZO6? No, oh but just the Corvette ZR1 For a RWD V8 sport car with over 400hp the Corvette gets good gas mileage for a vehicle in its class. a LS3 436hp Corvette gets 16mpg city and 26 highway. The Mazda RX8 with a 1.3L Rotary engine gets 16 city and 24 highway. (all taken from Chevy and Mazda’s website) So how does a 430hp V8 manage to get better gas mileage then a 232hp 1.3L engine? That’s pretty good to me. Anyways please manage to stay on topic, you and 1115, need more oil for GM all like to put the spin on a topic that is totally unrelated to the issue that is being discussed.

Diesel, ****, you should see what they’ve done to the cost of jet fuel. I honestly don’t know how any of the airlines are still in business.

I used to want a diesel. Price vs gasoline makes it pointless.

A letter to the editior is that what you call the Atlantic Ocean a Pond how gauche. If you think the mighty Atlantic is nothing more than a Pond ; then why don’t you try swimming across the Pond as it were and see if you survive a little swim without getting eaten by a shark or drowning!

On subject the New Mercedes 4 cylinder will almost certainly find its way over here -Across the Mighty Atlantic Ocean -especially one getting nearly 50 MPG. I mean you have to know that. I mean this little 4 banger has not only excellent torque properties to pull a boat but acceleration to boot.

I mean if gas goes beyond $5.5 a gallon your paying over $100 for a fill up. SO who’s really getting ahead here.
I guess your over here to spot some engines that GM will need to aquire for their chevy and saturn brand from Mercedes under licensed agreement only. This way GM can try and save some face while speaking out of both sides of the excutives mouthes on being environmental friendly. I know Ford is bad at that too; however, GM is the worst. Only one needs to visit the Gas Guzzlers over at the Cadillac Brand to figure that one out.

I mean that’s like OVER 3 times the gas mileage your getting. This is not even a Ford VS Chevy thing anymore. This is just plain common sense.

yeah except diesel prices are outrageous right now, and they aren’t going to be getting any cheaper along with the price of gasoline. These are very impressive engines though. I also liked how I read that Audi is supposed to be getting like 350hp out of it’s 2.0T 4cyl engine. Very impressive stuff indeed.

The best diesels are German. They did invent it! I’m starting to like diesels more and more. When in Munich I rode in a diesel Mercedes taxi and that thing had alot of power, and had no problem doing 220 km/h on the autobahn. Thankyou Rudolph Diesel, your name lives on as the future of engines.

WTF? Why not bring it to the U.S.? Who wouldn’t be impressed with 46 MPG and 0-60 in 7.7 seconds? I don’t think any car can achieve both of those numbers right now, including any hybrid.
