When Mercedes made an eleventh-hour decision not to discontinue the iconic G-Class SUV, it also committed to giving the car a much-needed update for the next model year. According to Automotive News Europe, that update will come at the Paris Motor Show in September. The truck is expected to gain two new gears thanks to a seven-speed automatic transmission. It will also get a revised and more luxurious interior. Mercedes plans to build the updated G-Class for the 2007 through 2010 model years. The Leftlane Perspective: It’s great to see the G-Class will be sticking around. In 2010, we’d love to see a new model with a similarly boxy exterior, but with a slightly more modern interpretation (think Chrysler 300 C or Range Rover Sport).
