Mercedes has created a new TV ad for its GL-Class SUV that began airing on U.S. television this week. It might not be “Unpimp your Auto,” but it’s still pretty darn funny. Video after the jump…

that was pretty funny although they make it seem like its going after the same market as suburban, expedition drivers etc but that has to cost twice as much.

pretty good commercial. And for the same price as a Chevy Escalade…oop I mean Cadillac, I’d rather have this. Much nicer design, and I don’t have to buy any BLING to drive it.

Now let’s all go spend $60,000!
This tank owns the Escalade!
I’m sure 125mm tank guns are optional on this vehicle.

I sat in a Mercedes GL at the Lisbon Auto Show. The leather on the passenger seat was vanishing, and the foam fabric beneath the leather was in sight.
This was on the lateral area of the seat, usually where someone entering a car rubs their back.
I asked the Mercedes representative how could a new car in an auto show, already be in such deteriorated conditions?
A quick, but honest answer was given: “This model, along with the ML, is built in the United States, not in Germany.”

It was kind of funny at first, but the humor died out. I really liked the crash test scene. By the time they were in the wind tunnel, it got old.

The funny thing is that if you look at the specs for the Land Rover LR3 it beats the GL in just about every category, more head and leg room for all three rows for example, but the LR3 in top of the line trim is only 56,000 US Dollars.
