The AMG version of the Mercedes R-Class — first shown as a concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show — will be available in the United States at the end of 2006. The 6.3-liter V8 engine boasts an output of 510-horsepower, and will be the basis of several future AMG cars. Mercedes-Benz said the AMG components are available for all three models and both body variants of the new R-Class Grand Sports Tourer. The design components include front and rear aprons painted in the body color, 19-inch AMG light alloy wheels, a new front bumper with enlarged air intakes, and integral circular foglamps ringed in chrome. The R 63 AMG will also be available in Europe starting this spring.
