I doubt they'll do it.The CL already weighs more than the S class due to the extra bracing required due to lack of B pillar; chop the roof off and you'll need and extra 100-200kg of bracing! It's an awesome car, the kind that people who want to stay (relativeley) obscure drive. show offs drive SLs, people who appreciate confort and style drive CLs

Sean, I've actually seen a drop top G class here in the States, and it's really not that good looking of a car, in fact I think it ruins the look of the G class (which I love, as it is my favorite SUV, especially the G55 AMG)

Wouldn't the CL convertible be in the same territory as the SL?

Plus, now that the SL is a hard-top convertible, it's already clashing with the CL coupe, now we're going to have the CL coupe, CL convertible, AND the SL (which is both coupe and convertible)?

How many premium coupe lines does M-B need!

The only 4-door Mercedes convertible that would make sense would be the CLS... imagine how that might shake up the market!

Guess it all depends where you live, since just in the parking garage where I work there are about 5 2005+ CL’s. Although I see a lot of high-end cars everyday…just today: Lotus Elise (ok, ok, not ‘high-end’, but rare), Ferrari 612, and 2 Bentley Continental GT’s, so maybe I’m sensitized to high-end cars.

I'd love a CL convertible, it would be such a ridiculous crusider, I think of it and, say, the new Bentley Azure in similar fashion (I know they aren't comparable, that one costs upwards of $275,000 and the other wouldn't, etc etc), as in, the new CL convertible wouldn't be a extra sporty car that would tackle the twisites, it would be a bahn burner, a powerful, large, wealthy yacht of a convertible, which would be really damn tight since there arent too many of those around right now.

There have been rumors of a CL drop-top ever since it was called the S-Class coupe. I really don’t see Mercedes making it.

Now there's your S-Class convertible (as the CL is just a two door S anyway). A choptop, 4-door S class seems stupid.
