Mercedes “through the trough”?

07/03/2006, 9:24 AM

By admin

DaimlerChrysler boss Dieter Zetsche said in an interview this weekend during the Challenger announcement that he feels Mercedes is well on its way to restoring an image of quality and reliability. “I feel image-wise, we are through the trough,” he said. In recent years, the automaker has lost much of its reputation for building rock-slolid vehicles, due mostly to quality control issues and unreliable electronics. Zetsche has made it his mission, however, to restore Mercedes to its past glory. Recently, he even said the automaker will beat Lexus in quality by 2008.

I’m looking forward to this. MB has always been a benchmark car but it is true, their electronics have left a *lot* to be desired recently.

Judging from what I heard from MB service advisors and mechanics, their quality really has improved significantly in last 2 years. Hope this meant the end of those poser 3rd-tier so-called premium brand called Infiniti dying faster, when ppl discovers C230 is a much better investment than those overrated G35!

Tom, are you senile?

Besides the less-than-ideal interior, the G35 makes the C230 look like Barbie’s car. A better investment for Barbie, sure.

And I’m sure the ‘07 will leave most speechless.

I’ll chalk up your nonsense to too much sun this weekend.

I agree with Dean… The C-Class interior was already outdated on the day it was presented. But the next C-class is so incredibly beautiful… I’ve already seen a few pics (www.automotorundsport.de).

I’m not sure wether it was the next Infiniti M or G that I’ve seen, but if it was the G the interior looks great, if it was an M they’ve messed it up…

We’ll have to see how the ‘07 C-class stacks up against the ‘07 Infiniti G :)

Cadillac is better than Mercedes Benz any day of the week. Always has been, always will be. Cadillac invented the car but the damn liberal media won’t tell you that, they give the frigging Germans credit for that. Buy GM, everything else sucks!!!

Hey “jerkoff”, you seen the next C? You seen the next G?

You buy your car based on what the monkeys at the lots think … I’ll buy my G knowing you’re a Barbie.

Kudos to Mercedes for steppin up.

There is a solidity and heft to a Mercedes that has yet to be duplicated in an Asian sedan. Mercedes mechanically, are overbuilt tanks in construction. It’s the Electronics that are skeptical. I however know a few people with Benz’s and not one of them has had serious electrical issues and those cars were sold during the “lower point” a few years back/

Infiniity are viod of any chracter or style just like Lexus. The best thing for infinity if there was a merger between Nissan-Renault and GM would be they could put it into one car company using the Saab name and dropping infinity. It would give a bit of history and chracter to new company and (the Old Saab) the technology they should have had for years. That would be the only way these two company could get a proper premium brand in the group

No character or style? Get a new prescription, four-eyes.

The G35 NOW makes most cars look like **** … wait until the Spring. The FX makes most SUVs look like ****.

When Infiniti has the electrical problems of a Benz, or the bland styling of a Benz, or the sub-par performance of a Benz … until then Barbie, keep living in your Barbie world.
