Mercedes to build drop-top SLR?

03/09/2006, 12:50 PM

By admin

Mercedes may build a convertible roadster version of its popular SLR supercar, according to Britain’s WhatCar? magazine. The $450,000 car is currently only offered as a coupe, despite the fact that it was shown in concept form in both coupe and convertible forms (pictured right). The SLR — build as a partnership between Mercedes and McLaren — has a 626bhp V8 engine and can hit 60 mph in 3.8 seconds. Mercedes and McLaren are also reportedly considering building a less expensive supercar to challenge the Ferrari F430. See larger images of the SLR roadster concept after the jump…

actully thats bull, the construction of the slr won’t allow it to be a drop-top–it relies on the roof stucture–unless they find a way to change that

Well then let’s hope they do find a way to change it…
