Jay Leno has invited the team from the Iron Men Foundation to detail their lovingly built, new from the ground up, ’32 Ford Roadster. Dubbed the ‘Metal of Honor’, the roadster has been built with new parts donated by American companies and features the signatures of 46 living Medal of Honor recipients.

Volunteers from the Iron Men Foundation then put the all-metal car together piece-by-piece over several months in space donated by Custom Classics Restorations in Island Lake, IL.

The 340 horsepower Ford 302, and was donated by Ford Motor Corporation, and features GT-40 aluminum headers. It is mated to a Bowler 3-speed automatic transmission with a Currie 9-inch rear-end. Ogden Top and Trim did the interior with the custom emblems designed by Robert Horn and executed by MotorHead Design.

Bomber gauges were installed by Classic Instruments and are nicely featured on the dash, as are controls for air-conditioning that work best when the top is installed. The interior also includes Bomber seats from Speedway Motors that each weighs 2.5 pounds. A custom stereo system is installed in the trunk with the stereo controlled by a faceplate hidden between the driver and the passenger seat that are complemented by marine speakers installed under both seats.

The ‘Metal of Honor’ is currently on tour across the US and will be auctioned by Barret-Jackson in Scottsdale, AZ in January 2012. All proceeds raised by the sale will be used to create scholarships for the children of slain and disabled soldiers.
