Production of MG brand vehicles will resume at the company’s idled Longbridge plant, according the Financial Times. The British automaker was acquired by Chinese company Nanjing Automotive in 2005. There was speculation that production would move elsewhere, or the automaker’s model line would be drastically changed. Rather, it seems Nanjing wants to start where MG’s British management left off. According to the latest Autocar, the MG TF sports car (pictured) will be built at Longbridge. Both Autocar amd the Financial Times say Nanjing will make an official announcement later in July.

Why would anybody buy one of these? For the same money, you could have a new Challenger. You could save a ton of money and get a much better car if you bought a Miata. The British have comprehensively mismanaged their auto industry.

As a true enthusiast I hate to see any car company fold and I’m glad to see this brand coming back. I do hope that Toyota gets arrogant, lazy and greedy like the American companies did in the seventies and they collapse, but this does not make me a hypocrite because Toyota makes appliances, not automobiles

Hey Madcapp, since they haven’t priced the MG or the Challenger, it’s kinda hard to make a price comparison at this stage. The TF isn’t a bad car at all, and there’s something to be said for a mid-engined soft-top with a peppy motor, especially at a relatively low price.

1.you can’t drive the Challenger in a european city.
it’s too f..king big.
2.you can’t buy any other mid engine car fot this kind of money.
3.as much as i remember the MG TF was one of the best selling sport cars in europe.
now that MG is Chinese,it will go on sale in the US soon.

I know more about MG, Triumph, Sumbeam, Rover, Jensen, Austin, Smiths Instruments and crappy Lucas electrical systems than you will ever be able to fathom. Since you’ve invoked Chrysler, its now much better under German Control, remind you of something? I’ll give you a hint…it starts with Rolls and Bentley but doesn’t end there.
