In mid-June Leftlane reported on Joe LoCiero, a man who has come to be known as Million Mile Joe, and his 900,000+ mile 1990 Honda Accord.
Now, Joe and his 1990 Honda Accord are back – and you guessed it – this time with 1,000,000 miles on the odometer.
Joe, from Norway, Maine, has been logging an average of 62,500 miles on his 1990 Accord each year since he bought it in 1996 with 74,000 miles on the odometer. As Joe toppled 900,000 miles he decided to visit a local Honda dealer and let them know he was on a mission to hit 1,000,000 miles, which led to our initial report in June.
Aside from scheduled maintenance, Joe has made a few expected repairs, including replacing the fuel pump, both cooling fans and the radiator twice.
Now, Honda has announced that Joe and his Accord have finally surpassed the million-mile milestone, about one week ahead of his projections. The Japanese automaker says that it will produce a video very soon documenting the experience, so stay tuned.
