Anyways I’m not trying to bash on the Mini Cooper S in any way. It has great looks, a very unique interior, a great fun to drive factor. I’m also aware that a regular Mini Cooper S doesn’t cost 29k either. It’s 21k U.S (which would be less then the 08 Cobalt SS Turbocharged) actually. Although it has less hp (175hp) I know Mini sells an after market kit that gives it a better flowing exhaust, better intake, larger fuel injectors and larger fuel rod, and at the time the Cooper S had a supercharger it gave it a larger S/C so I’m assuming since it switched over to a turbo, probably a larger turbo to improve power. The Mini is a cool car and I actually wouldn’t mind having one.

haha ok mars_Smiley for your sake then I hope a Mini Cooper S isn’t pitted up against the 08 Cobalt SS Turbocharged, because in the U.S I’ve seen in autocross events Minis get destroyed on the track by my stock SS supercharged with 55hp less then the 08 model. also you want to continue to talk about torque steer that is actually non existent on this car that I’ve mentioned here’s a second opinion…

autonut: Yes, you’re basically buying performance and a rather unique look. I’d expect it to be somewhere in the $31K fully loaded. It’s only 0.1 sec faster than a cheaper bigger and safer Accord coupe 3.5 with leather… The only time I will choose the Mini is if I work in the downtown. Then again, maybe not…

SS4LIFE, I don’t care what car beats Mini at Nurburging – test drive Mini and let me know if needs to be beaten. It’s the whole package: steering wheel, clutch and tranny function, composure on the road, handling, engine noise. I think that thing turned me into a fag, OMG!

lol it’s cool. The Mini is an awesome car, and I didn’t mean to diss it or anything because I actually really like it and if I could afford one I’d consider it. It’s unique, and although I have not driven one I’ve heard it’s a blast to drive, and maybe I’ll be able to have have the experience of driving it some day.

After I saw the Italian job and after I saw Jason Statham’s white Mini Cooper S with the black racing stripes I wanted one like that ever since. Throw some black rims on it too and that would be my Mini. Maybe someday. lol

ANYWAYS The Mini is definitely a nice and fun little car. But all of you can pay 30k for a FWD 208hp Mini that will get walked over by a SS S/C and T/C, Neon and Caliber SRT-4, Mazdaspeed 3 etc that are considerably less expensive on the street or track. So I hope you still feel justified in forking out that kind of cash after your Mini Cooper gets left behind at a light by any of these.

Overpriced. Unreliable. Cheap interior … look at the center stack. And look at the false advertising … you only get rims to differentiate you from a regular S (rims I wouldn’t want) … no skirt package.

Ask the suckers who overpaid for their MINIs and had to pay $8k to replace their CVTs … the 3-year maintenance is false comfort. Or ask the suckers who bought used, and overpaid to a greater extent than new, and then pay stupid amounts of money for parts and labour out of warranty.

Or ask the people who are hearing nightmare-inducing noise at start-up in cool/cold weather … even KIAs don’t experience such embarassing situations.

Financially speaking the car is a great buy, if you don’t intend to put a lot of miles and drive it through ice and snow. It will hold price due to exclusivity. I test drove non-turbo hatch and it was the most delightful car one can imagine. I don’t think I would need turbo. With 118 ponies it felt much livelier then Volvo C30 with over 220.
SS4Life did you see the stripper Tiffany in the mall? Do you know her also?

considering this car is faster around the Nordschleife of Nürburgring then a Honda S2000, VW R32, AUDI TT 2.0, Honda Civic Type R… i would say its pretty much worth every penny consider the amount of performance you get… and please do not mention such cars as the speed3 or cobalt ss because they would have torque steered into a tree…
