Mini has provided 1/4-scale sized Cooper hatchbacks that are remote controlled to retrieve the hammers, javelins, discuses, and shots thrown by the athletes in practice and competition at the 2012 Olympic Games. The cars are thus greater than toys, since they can carry up to about 18lbs.

The cars' large batteries can reportedly sustain their operation for up to 35 minutes, after which an 80-minute recharge is required. They have working headlights and sport blue paintjobs with orange Olympic livery and white roofs. They will be used in the Paralympic games as well.

BMW has also provided full-size cars for the Olympics to shuttle VIP and dignitaries around.

Special Performance Edition models have also been launched for sale to commemorate the 2012 Olympics.
