MINI celebrates five years

By admin

The MINI brand this week will celebrate its fifth birthday after being revived by BMW. Sales of the ‘new MINI‘ began on July 7th, 2001. Since its launch, the company has sold over 800,000 units worldwide. Its largest markets, in order, are: Britain, the U.S., and Germany. Later this month, MINI will again show a new concept car that previews the soon-to-be-unveiled next-generation model. Based on the MINI Traveller concept, the “MINI Concept London” will debut at the British motor show in late July.

Ah yes, BMW’s hypocritical FWD car…well, at least it’s a better chick car than the VW Beatle.

Bite your tongue!! The Cooper is a fantastic drivers car, no doubt about it. Why do you think it is still successful after 5 years (unlike the Beetle)…

All I can say to any one who mocks them is drive a 6-speed Cooper S like mine and you will change your mind. Had no intention of buying one, went to the dealership to see the freakshow. Was ready to write a check after the first 10 minutes behind the wheel. It is an amazing drive like no other and has been completely reliable for the 4 years I have owned it.

When I pick up my daughter at high school in my Mini Cooper, I’m always mobbed by girls who want to TOUCH the car. Not just look at it. They want to run their hands over it. Freaky. I don’t think I would get that reaction in a Z4 or Boxster.

I almost bought the red w/ white roof Mini back in 2001. The only thing that stopped me was the waiting period. TWO MONTHS WAITING PERIOD! I was without a car for a month and a half (my vehicle was totaled- not my fault) and i was dying to get a new car. I was only 21 y.o. college student back then. I’m sure right now, I can buy it right off the lot. Hope to own or lease one in the future!!

I bought my Cooper S 1.5 years ago. Two-three weeks ago I placed an order for ‘06 full JCW. This is the best car I’ve had.

They seem cool and groovey here in Europe, but in the US they seem to be piloted by co-eds, hairdessers and dandies. Not that there’s anything wrong with co-eds, hairdressers and dandies. Being a guy (non-dandy), who spends most of his time in the States, just gotta have something kinda gnarly.

Bob, like I said, it’s a girl’s car.
