By stretching it it’s now in the company of all the other hot hatchbacks, like the Mazda3 etc. No sense getting this, there are cheaper faster alternatives around with equivalent build quality.

My wife and I have been waiting for this. We have a 2005 Cooper that has been great. No problems, great gas mileage and fun to drive. Now we have a baby, and he does fit with us in the car, but once we have a second child a Clubman will definitely be on our shopping list. Thanks MINI!

Having been an ardent fan and owner of a clubman in the late sixties i feel bmw are making a mistake with the clubman badge,as the only real difference between the original mini and the clubman was the front end and nothing at all to do with the back,the traveller (estate) model had the design change at the rear,i think bmw are missing a golden opportunity here and should give it the SW sport wagon logo and increase wheel base slightly as it would not alter the handling in a car of this size,and who knows some time in the future alter the front end of the existing mini and give it the well deserved clubman badge.

Only ever had one warranty repair in my MINI Cooper S and it was very minor. It was a great car fun to drive and even great on the highway at 100 Plus mph.

Aren’t they discontinuing the Malibu Maxx next year?

Think I’d take a Silver/Diesel/16″ Wheeled one of these as my everyday car and if I had the cash a basic spec (i.e no sat nav, only basic air con etc) Cooper S as my weekend car.

I like this, it along with previous mini’s have had some very differant styling cue’s (especially interior). Amazing room, and snappy. The one thing I didn’t like in previous was the rubbery leather seats. Won’t complain though.

I love this thing. I’m in the market for a small fun to drive car with utility and this thing fits the bill. I just wish it was coming out sooner. The only thing I don’t like is the split rear window.

I have to agree.. I see a lot of xB in this now, and look at all that rear-seat room! If only they had left the rear alone I would definitely be a fan.. but the weird and complicated-looking rear door treatment is a major downer.

attention in your G6? ahhahhah i blew one away yesterday with my GLI it was hilarious. he tried to keep up and failed miserably. had the seatback all the way down too like he was cool… sounds about accurate for a G6 driver.
i like the clubman though, but id take the regular one over it. Are there going to be two engine options?

hey, wenge, you may want to check out one of the remaining Malibu Maxx’s as well. It’ll be more reliable, better quality and get better mileage. You’ll probably get plenty of stares as you drive by, I know I get tons of attention with my G6.

Thanks for the recommendation. I love the GTI and I’m definitely considering one! It’s a great car at the top of a VERY short list. A list that I wish was a bit longer. I’d love to have the Mini Clubman and Volvo C30 on there also but I don’t think I can wait that long.

I wonder if this isn’t a test mule to compare the impact of the added door on torsional rigidity. Once they figure out the changes on one side, then they make another mule with suicide doors on both sides.

An asymetric design is would be less useful than 4 doors, even in urban settings. Furthermore I think it would alienate many buyers who would think it’s too wierd, as well as limit it’s availability to just left-hand drive markets (unless they build a mirrored version for RHD, but that would nearly double the production costs)

This is my least favorite style of the Mini as it looks just wee bit too utilization.
