Mini Crossman SUV concept to debut at Paris show

BMW’s Mini brand is hard at work developing the all-new Crossman SUV, and it looks as though the first hint of that hard work will be unveiled later this year. Mini will unveil a concept version of the Crossman at October’s Paris Motor Show, a new report finds.

Despite a strong family resemblance, the Crossman will actually ride on its own unique platform. The new architecture was needed for the Crossman’s all-wheel drive system and higher ride height.

Compared to the standard Cooper, the Crossamn will ride 8cm (just over 3 inches) higher and will measure in at over four meters (157 inches), according to AutoTelgraaf.

The Crossman — which will be built by Magna Steyr starting late next year — is slated for an annual production run of 80,000 units.

So much for “Let’s Motor”
It is now “Let’s take the kids to soccer practice.”
Shees Mini… you are giving up your personality and spunk. Just stick with the Coopers… please. The Clubman looks like arse… and the world doesn’t need another “tall wagon”.

If Ronald McDonald needed a car, it’d be a Mini.

I think it will sell. If Mini is any example, BMW knows what to do and how to do it.

Least they are doing an awd version

If it wasn’t 3″ farther off the ground than the Cooper it wouldn’t need the AWD grip for extra handling. Nobody is gonna take one of these even remotely off road anyways… all AWD does is add weight… which decreases accelleration times and fuel mileage.

Yes, but should help sales in the Snow Belt, where awd is popular and it means we could look forward to a 300+ hp version.

Technically the engine is not a BMW, the zip comes from the French PSA.

First the MINI that really wasn’t, then the longer MINI that definitley wasn’t, now the MINI that just takes the piss - Brand rape at its finest

The brand was dead for 20++ years. BMW restored it from the dead, and give them credit, extended it where it’s never been. I never saw original Mini is US, I saw one or two north of the border, but not in US. If Mini SUV (an oxymoron I know) will sustain 80% of handling of original Mini it will be a great car. I don’t know the purpose of such car (I imagine you could drive Mini to a picnic) but why would I guess winning formula? Who could predict 5-6 years ago that Mini will sell at all and the gas was cheap!

Actually the Crossman name is all but confirmed, though they are working on a Moke.
