The brand was dead for 20++ years. BMW restored it from the dead, and give them credit, extended it where it’s never been. I never saw original Mini is US, I saw one or two north of the border, but not in US. If Mini SUV (an oxymoron I know) will sustain 80% of handling of original Mini it will be a great car. I don’t know the purpose of such car (I imagine you could drive Mini to a picnic) but why would I guess winning formula? Who could predict 5-6 years ago that Mini will sell at all and the gas was cheap!

If it wasn’t 3″ farther off the ground than the Cooper it wouldn’t need the AWD grip for extra handling. Nobody is gonna take one of these even remotely off road anyways… all AWD does is add weight… which decreases accelleration times and fuel mileage.
