Following its Shanghai Motor Show debut, the MINI Inspired by Goodwood has officially hit America soil at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California. MINI has also announced pricing for the super-luxurious hatchback.
Not to be outdone by premium superminis like the Aston Martin Cygnet, MINI teamed with designers from Rolls-Royce to create the MINI Inspired by Goodwood. The most luxurious MINI to date borrows its name from Rolls-Royce’s hometown.
Based on the MINI Cooper S, the Inspired by Goodwood features all the trimmings worthy of the Rolls-Royce name, including a Walnut Burr dashboard, black nappa leather, Tipped Leather Cornsilk door linings and Piano Black steering wheel buttons. Of course, no Rolls-Royce inspired car would be complete without Cashmere roof linings, sun visors and a rear storage tray, as well as deep-pile lambswool carpets.
Based on the MINI Cooper S, the MINI Inspired by Goodwood is powered by a 184 horsepower 1.6L engine. However, the Inspired by Goodwood does away with the standard S’ hood scoop, making for a more refined look. The car is finished in Diamond Black metallic – an exclusive color to Rolls-Royce.
MINI will produce just 1,000 examples of the Inspired by Goodwood for the global market, with 140 of those units destined for the U.S. market. The order book is officially open for the car, but potential buyers better have a hefty bank account — MINI will be charging $52,000 for the Rolls-Royce-inspired edition, but that cost of entry at least includes a $700 destination charge.
