BMW’s MINI brand launched with just a single product line, but the British automaker says it will add three more models to its lineup by 2020, bringing its total model count to 10.
MINI executive Kay Segler revealed to the news to Automotive News, but failed to give any further details on the three upcoming models. Segler did, however, indicate the new models would ride on the updated BMW platform set to underpin the 2014 Cooper hardtop.
MINI’s new Roadster model is scheduled to arrive in U.S. showrooms in February, followed by a two-door version of the company’s Countryman crossover in 2013. The Countryman Coupe was previewed by the Paceman concept at the 2010 North American International Auto Show.
MINI sold a record-setting 57,511 cars in the United States last year, besting the company’s 2010 sales by more than 10,000 units. MINI expects to sell even more cars in 2012, with an expanded dealership network expected to aid in that goal.
