Mini Traveler to be renamed?

04/26/2006, 8:41 AM

By admin

BMW is unlikely to use the name “Traveler” for its new long-wheelbase Mini, according to a published report Tuesday. The name is owned by another company, and Mini is unlikely to secure it for the estate, reports MotoringFile. Also known by its model designation, R55, the new Mini has recently been spied in testing, and is suspected to have rear-opening ’suicide doors’ for easy access to the rear. The car is said to be based on the Mini Traveler Concept shown in October. Both the standard-wheelbase (R56) and long-wheelbase (R55/Traveler) are expected to arrive in 2007.
