Mitsubishi Concept-X rally edition?

08/02/2006, 12:34 PM

By admin

The folks over at the evolutionm.net chat forums located some very interesting photos of a scale model for a new concept car by Mitsubishi. Posted by member ‘gnusmaS’, the photos are purportedly from the Mitsubishi Design Europe in Germany. The car in the photos is very reminiscent of the Mitsubishi Concept-X, which is the basis for the forthcoming 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Eovlution. The car has been described as the a “rally” version of the new Lancer. Gallery after the jump…

i think that is the EVO and other car we have been seeing is a lesser version more inline with the WRX in price and power. and then a base model Lancer below that.

OMG That is Hidious !!!

No wonder you guys bash on GM so much about style. You guys must be Ricers and I hate using that term.

Serousily the current EVO looks much better than this POS.

But I hope they make it so that Mitsu will be forced out of N America.

the front would look damn nice without the rice (3 hood scoops, idiotic roof scoop) but the rear is unsalvagable

tmn, you apparently mistook the your comment box for a complaint box. This car looks awesome and the fact that you can find something to complain about is really funny.

Man that is one ugly car. The designers must be Star Trek fans. Why are all of the econo-box street racers going to these butt-ugly front ends? I guess because VW and Audi did it first, so now the Japanese companies are going to follow along. Hey designers, the VW and Audi front end treatments are Butt-Ugly too!

It’s going to be awful tough to get in the car with no door handles, not to mention missing side view mirrors. Other than that it looks great…except for that disaster of a thing on the roof.

This looks so futuristic, it’s awsome. Hope mitsu builds it, it might bring them in line with toyota, subaru, Nissan and Honda for the sports compact market.

Looks totally sweet. Best Mitsu i’ve ever seen (if it’s real ofc)

That looks terrible and is most likely designed by artists with no concept of the mechanical workings oif a vehicle. No vehicle coming close to representing what we see here will ever see the streets. Period.

Saw the concet X at New York in the Springtime. That thing was pretty mean looking. The headlights look evil. THIS is the stuff that will save Mitsu in the U.S. 300hp, AWD, 6-spd box. All you GM folks can cry and moan all you want but Mitsu has a definite winner here. Hate on the Camry, hate on the Accord all day long, this is a car that will break out of the typical japanese sedan mold. A ballsy design, a risky design. Mitsu isn’t going down without a fight.

Admit it, if this were a Pontiac, you’d be going gaga over it.

We can only pray that Mitsubishi can make the Evolution/Lancer look this good when it appears. I have been havin a few fears from the mules running around, looks like it may not be so tough looking, that will be a shame.

The sccops are all functional on a rally car they are not rice…. when they are stuck on a road car and don’t ventilate anything that is rice… it looks very cool Evo’s and Sti’s will always look outrageous/border line ugly I’d definatly hop behind the wheel if given a chance its a drivers car.. 4 wheel power slides anyone?

Nope, if this was a Pontiac it would put GM out of business. Looks like Mitsu has a couple of 12 year olds drawing their cars.JUST HORRIFIC!

A total winner for sure, in purist circles this might be breaking the “evo” mold a bit. But that is why it is called “Evolution” and you will forget quite rapidly how it looks when you drive it beating on Corvette’s and Porsche’s and all that other over-priced stuff. Legendary Rallye car with legendary performance now packaged in a 21st century get up. Now that is perfect and the german mitsu design studio hit the nail on the head.

It looks fine, I say don’t change anything. I hope they bring out more bodystyles like the hatchback and the wagon. The only thing ugly are the faces of the owners of more established sports car makers when they meet it on the road or track.

That is just ONE MEAN MF’r, if you Yanks had any idea at all about real performance cars you’d be scrapping those tanks you call cars and going green over this thing. All those scoops and bits are essential in rally and in the Concept X. We’ve got a pair of VR4’s, the big older brother to this thing and if they are anything to go by then this thing will scream and corner like nothing you’ve ever seen.

An EvoVIII from over here nearly took out your Pikes Peak early this year, still came second with a front left tyre flat and only seconds behind the winner. Who needs fugly V8 yank junk. If you want that buy a Chrysler Cruiser, now THAT is ugly !!
